VICKAR AUTO GROUP GIVES BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
Posted on September 25, 2017
Community has always been very important to the Vickar Family and the Vickar Auto Group. The Vickar Auto Group staff gives back to the community in many ways all year round. Among the community organizations that have benefitted from Vickar Auto Group support have been the Aboriginal Chamber of Commerce, the Manitoba Filipino Street Festival, Folklorama and L’Arche Winnipeg to name a few.
The Vickar Auto Group is also a major supporter of the Kidney Foundation and other healthcare initiatives. Most recently, the auto group signed onto the Canadian Cancer Society’s "Abby's Balloons for Childhood Cancer" community initiative.
“We and the other dealers on Regent were approached by the Cancercare Manitoba Foundation and child cancer survivor Abigail Stewart (who is 11) to tie specially marked gold helium balloons to our vehicles throughout the month of September to raise awareness and generate donations to fight childhood cancer,” says Vickar Community Chevrolet sales representative Steve Lipischak. “September is Child Cancer Awareness Month. We agreed to participate (along with Vickar Mitsubishi, Vickar Nissan and the other dealers on the strip).”
In addition to putting out the balloons, the Vickar Auto Group pledged to donate $50 from every car sold in the month of September at all of its seven stores to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation to support the fight against cancer.
Lipischak notes that you still have until September 30 to drop in at any of the Vickar stores (including Vickar Ford on north Main Street, Waverley Mitsubishi at the Waverley Auto Mall and Vickar Clearance Centre and Vickar Isuzu Trucks both On Dugald Road) and buy a vehicle and contribute to children’s cancer research.
