2018 CHEVY CRUZE: SUBTLE UPDATES
Posted on March 29, 2018
When something’s done right, why change it up too much? That was Chevrolet’s thought process for the 2018 Cruze that sees only minor updates over the previous year’s model. However, those subtle changes have only added to the Cruze’s appeal.
Most notable for the 2018 model year is the addition of an available diesel engine in the hatchback Cruze. The 1.6L 4-cyl turbo-diesel engine produces 137 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. On the highway, the diesel engine drinks an impressive 5L/100km, while in the city that number only increases to 7.7L/100km.
The previous model’s 1.4L 4-cylinder turbo engine remains the same, pushing out 153 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque.
The turbo-diesel engine comes standard paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, however, a 9-speed automatic can be specified. As for the 1.4L that also has two available transmissions, the 6-speed being the standard and the 6-speed auto an option.
The 2018 Chevrolet Cruze keeps the same good looks from the previous model year, and inside you’ll find superb standard features like air conditioning, MyLink accessible via a 7” entertainment screen (with an 8” available), as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and OnStar with 4GLTE wifi capabilities.
There’s plenty of room for 5 adults to fit comfortable in both the hatch and sedan versions of the 2018 Chevrolet Cruze, as well as sufficient trunk space in both.
Unique to the hatchback is the RS package, which includes a rear spoiler, fog lights, a sport body kit, RS badges, and 18” black wheels, all of which give the 2018 Chevy Cruze hatchback a decidedly muscular look on the road.
